Recent events in Syria show the success the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh/ISIS has met in its enduring mission to defeat ISIS and the threat the terrorist group still poses.

Removing Muhammad Sa'id Abdal-Rahman al-Mawla from the battlefield was a significant blow to the terrorist organization, a coalition spokesperson said.

“The enduring defeat of ISIS in Syria and Iraq remains the coalition’s top priority. We will continue to leverage the coalition’s expertise to counter Daesh/ISIS’s global branches and networks, and to bring its members to justice,” the coalition said.

The coalition said it aims to block the group’s attempts to reconstitute or retake and hold territory in both Syria and Iraq.

Actions by the coalition’s local partners despite casualties to their forces halted an attack against the Hasakah detention center. This denied Daesh/ISIS’s attempt to replenish its forces from the detainees. It also showed the vulnerability of temporary detention centers and the need to provide coalition initiatives with resources to secure the detention of ISIS fighters, the coalition said.
