WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Fred Upton (R-MI), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, today joined House Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor and other Republican leaders to release, “ObamaCare: A Budget-Busting, Job-Killing Health Care Law." This new report offers a multi-point analysis of how the Democrats’ health care law is costing American jobs and worsening economic uncertainty. Republicans have pledged to vote to repeal the unpopular law as part of a broader effort to promote job creation and reduce the size of government.

“As this new report documents, job creators are struggling under the weight of this law’s crushing mandates, tax hikes, and cost increases," said Upton. “Republicans are standing with the American people to repeal the job-killing government takeover of health care so we can focus on creating jobs, bringing down health care costs, and expanding access to quality care."Among the job-killing provisions highlighted in the report:

“¢ New taxes, including an increase in the Medicare payroll tax

“¢ An employer mandate that fines business unable to provide government-approved health care

“¢ Burdensome paperwork requirements for employers thanks to a new mandate to file additional 1099 tax forms

“¢ A flawed, temporary tax credit that actually creates a disincentive for employers to increase wages and hire additional workers
