Fact Check: Resolution Disapproving the FCC's Internet Rules

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 7, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

- The Congressional Review Act provides Congress the authority to reverse federal regulations issued by unelected bureaucrats. H.J.Res. 37 would eliminate uncertainty created in the marketplace by the FCC’s overreaching power-grab.

- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, an original cosponsor of the CRA, has described the process as a “reasonable, sensible approach to regulatory reform."

- In the House, a resolution of disapproval is subject to the ordinary legislative process; however, it is not subject to amendment.

- In the Senate, the CRA provides an expedited process to overcome filibusters and get the disapproval to the president’s desk.
