WASHINGTON, DC - Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Subcommittee Chairman Mary Bono Mack (R-CA) sent a letter to McAfee, Inc. today seeking more information about the company’s alarming new report entitled “Revealed: Operation Shady RAT." The report summarizes McAfee’s findings regarding a widespread global hacking campaign taking place over the past five years.

“The Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade has jurisdiction over cyber security and data security and has engaged in a multi-year oversight effort into the effects on consumers, our international competitiveness, and the economy as a whole. As the Subcommittee continues its oversight in this matter, I request a briefing from your security threat research team to inform our efforts," wrote Bono Mack.

Bono Mack also requested the company provide a briefing on the matter with an emphasis on a list of questions concerning recent high profile intrusions and the report’s conclusions.
