WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, issued the following statement regarding a new report on the impact of the climate crisis on the financial sector. The report is the result of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Climate-Related Market Risk Subcommittee, which was established by CFTC Commissioner Rostin Behnam to identify climate-related financial risks.

“The climate crisis poses serious risks to our economy and our livelihoods. This groundbreaking comprehensive report comes at a critical juncture for our country and includes important recommendations that will help protect our economy from the climate impacts we’re already seeing. I commend Commissioner Behnam for his proactive leadership that will help safeguard the stability of our financial sector."
