WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, R-Kan., Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, today voted for a continuing resolution (CR), which averts a federal government shutdown and includes a full replenishment of the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) to aid agricultural producers. The CR funds the federal government until Dec. 11, 2020, and is now ready for President Trump’s signature into law.
“In these wildly uncertain times, farmers, ranchers, and growers are counting on us to get this right. I’m proud to cast my vote to continue sending much-needed certainty and predictability to rural America," said Roberts. “I hope farm country can rest a little easier tonight knowing that funds for the Commodity Credit Corporation will be replenished to continue Farm Bill programs and assist producers who’ve been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic."
After Roberts last week admonished the House Democrats’ CR that denied funding for critical farm programs, House leadership included farm relief in the bill. This relief includes funding for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) implementation of Farm Bill programs and COVID-19 relief programs through the CCC.
