WASHINGTON, DC - Continuing efforts to promote job creation and economic growth, the Energy and Commerce Committee announced plans for its next installment of the Jobs and Innovation Forum Series with a focus on American manufacturing. A panel of experts and job creators will discuss the obstacles and opportunities facing American manufacturers today. The United States currently has the world’s largest manufacturing economy, but various regulations and policies are threatening this vital sector. Manufacturing has been hard hit by this recession, with jobs declining from 13.4 million in 2008 to 11.5 million in 2010.
Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-KY) will host the forum on February 6, 2012 at 3 p.m. Members of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade and other panel members will engage in a roundtable discussion to explore how to make it easier to make it in America.
