Committee Members Fight for Full Repeal of Obamacare

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on May 16, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Members of the Energy and Commerce Committee today voiced their support to fully repeal the president’s health care law. Since the reforms became law three years ago, the committee has conducted rigorous oversight to educate the American people on the law’s impact on patients, providers, the economy, and states. With each day that passes, the committee continues to discover more consequences as a result of the law’s mandates, fees, policies, and taxes.

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) stated, “Since the passage of Obamacare, we have encountered an ugly reality filled with broken promises, rampant uncertainty, rising premiums, and harmful consequences for jobs and our economy. The looming rate increases will be devastating for millions of Americans, particularly those with a limited income, including recent college graduates and older Americans. Today we keep our promise to the American people as we continue working to repeal this bureaucratic train wreck and replace it with real solutions that drive down healthcare costs for all Americans."
