Blackburn Statement on Administration’s Release of Enrollment Figures: “Who’s Paid?”

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Jan. 13, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Vice Chairman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) issued the following statement in response to the Department of Health and Human Services’ latest health care enrollment report:

“Who’s paid?"

NOTE: The House will vote this week on the Exchange Information Disclosure Act, legislation introduced by Energy and Commerce Committee member Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE) that would require the Department of Health and Human Services to deliver accurate, detailed reports on the status of HealthCare.gov and enrollment in the exchanges. Despite requests for more accurate information, including the number of individuals who have actually paid, the administration has been less than forthcoming. The number of individuals who have paid for a new plan will provide a more accurate understanding of the status of the health law.
