Upton Responds to Keystone IG Report

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Feb. 26, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) today released the following statement in response to the release of the State Department Inspector General report over the Keystone XL pipeline review:

“Once again, there is no question that the Keystone XL pipeline is in the national interest. The State Department, over the course of five years and five exhaustive reviews, has objectively determined that the pipeline is better for safety, the environment, and jobs. While the State Department is not guilty of bias in their review, this administration is surely guilty of foot-dragging and delaying construction of Keystone XL-an important component of a true ‘all-of-the-above’ energy strategy. Opponents of Keystone’s jobs and affordable energy have gone to extraordinary lengths in putting up unnecessary roadblocks to this private project. It’s time for President Obama to put politics aside once and for all and put people to work building the pipeline in this so-called year of action."
