McCarthy and Moniz to Testify at Hearings Next Week

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 26, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy and Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz will appear next week at separate committee hearings to review their respective agency’s proposed budget request and priorities. McCarthy will testify at a joint hearing before the Energy and Power Subcommittee and the Environment and the Economy Subcommittee on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. Moniz will testify at an Energy and Power Subcommittee hearing on April 3, 2014, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

“Every spring, in pursuit of greater transparency, we convene hearings to scrutinize federal agency budgets. This is a critical part of our oversight responsibilities as we not only evaluate agency resources, but also how agencies prioritize their policy agenda. Often times, it is a wayward agenda like the war on coal and the resulting regulatory policies that end up costing taxpayers the most," said House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI). “Next week, we will take a thoughtful look at the policies being pursued by both EPA and DOE, what they will cost, and how they will impact consumers, affordable energy, jobs, and our overall economy."

The Majority Memorandum and witness testimony for the hearing with Administrator McCarthy will be available HERE as they are posted.as they are posted.
