WASHINGTON, DC - House Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) today responded to Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler’s latest proposal regarding the Universal Service Fund’s Schools and Library and Program.
“Our teachers work day in and day out to provide a top-notch education to children across the country, and their efforts are supported with access to innovative technology for the schools and libraries where children spend their formative years," said Chairman Walden. “For this program’s continued success, it must provide tangible results for our students and efficient use of ratepayer resources. Chairman Wheeler’s proposal appropriately reflects the advice of the committee to pursue improvements to the E-Rate program within its current funding. I look forward to seeing this proposal move through a transparent and deliberative process ahead of the full commission’s consideration in July."
