Hearing Notice: Subcommittee on Health

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on July 15, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

The Subcommittee on Health, chaired by Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA), has scheduled a hearing for Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 3 p.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled “21st Century Cures: Barriers to Ongoing Communication and Evidence Development." Witnesses to be announced.

“Keeping the discovery, development, and delivery cycle of 21st Century Cures constantly improving means ensuring that each phase of that cycle can inform the next," commented Pitts. “We need to be sure that patients, providers, researchers, and drug and device companies are able to communicate and collaborate in the most productive and transparent manner possible. Patients, for example, know best the real world impact of certain treatments. Taking this information from the delivery cycle and translating it back to those working in the development phase will help ensure that the cycle of cures is constantly improving."
