WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Vice Chairman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) issued the following statement regarding the administration’s announcement that it sent inaccurate tax information to 800,000 health law enrollees and is extending the enrollment period around tax-filing season.

“Surprise, surprise, the Obama administration still does not have its act together. Not that we needed it, but this is just more proof why Obamacare’s insertion of the IRS into the health care decisions of Americans was a colossal blunder. This is nothing more than an unwelcome reminder that this law, through the threat of IRS penalty, is forcing Americans to purchase a product designed for them in Washington, DC. Washington does not always know best. The insertion of the IRS is evidence that the law is about control of the population. We will continue to fight to protect families from Obamacare’s individual mandate by ending it completely."

Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell will testify at the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee next Thursday, February 26.
