WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Health Subcommittee Chairman Joe Pitts (R-PA) today issued the following statement applauding the Republican Study Committee’s commitment to increased research funding at the National Institutes of Health. The RSC, led by Energy and Commerce Committee member Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr., (D-NJ), and Health Subcommittee Ranking Member Gene Green (D-TX), on the 21st Century Cures Act, which includes an additional $10 billion for NIH over five years, as well as $550 million for the Food and Drug Administration, and reauthorization of NIH for three years.
“There is nothing more important than helping patients.
