WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Health Subcommittee Chairman Joe Pitts (R-PA) today issued the following statement regarding the 2015 Medicare Trustees Report. Read a summary of key findings from the report online HERE.
“Medicare is a lifeline for our nation’s seniors, but once again we are reminded that, over the longer term, Medicare spending is on course for disaster. Rather than ignoring the problem and raiding Medicare to pay for the president’s health care law, we need a willing partner in Washington to take thoughtful and prompt steps forward in strengthening this program both for today’s seniors and for generations to come," said Upton and Pitts. “The Energy and Commerce Committee has held a number of important hearings to discuss a path forward and we hope today’s report finally serves as a wake up call for Washington that Medicare’s future cannot be ignored, and that action is needed to #KeepThePromise to America’s seniors."
