#SubOversight to Review State Obamacare Exchanges

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Sept. 22, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, chaired by Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA), has rescheduled a hearing for Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 10:00 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “ACA Overdue Checkup: Examining the ACA’s State Insurance Marketplaces." Subcommittee members will hear testimony from various state officials about their experiences working with the administration to implement the law. This hearing was postponed in July due to a scheduling change in the House of Representatives.

“The administration’s mismanagement of the president’s signature health care law not only led to a HealthCare.gov meltdown on day one, several states were awarded more than $5.51 billion in taxpayer dollars without seemingly any oversight and management from the administration, leaving a trail of broken systems across the country," commented Murphy. “It has been more than five years since the law was forced through Congress and the system remains incomplete. The administration’s mismanagement and broken promises led to millions of cancelled plans, higher costs, and states left with little clarity and leadership. Now, hardworking American taxpayers are left to pick up the pieces. We will remain steadfast in our oversight of this broken law as we continue our efforts to protect Americans from its costly consequences."
