WASHINGTON, DC - The House Committee on Energy and Commerce today announced its hearing schedule for the week of September 28.
On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will examine the mismanagement of the president’s health law, particularly with regard to the state insurance marketplaces. Subcommittee members will hear testimony from various state officials about their experiences working with the administration to implement the law. Witness testimony will be posted at the same link as it is available.
Also on Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade will examine the sharing economy and how it’s transforming the U.S. economy. Members will examine issues impacting the sharing economy from state and local regulations, liability insurance, federal regulations, competition with incumbent industries, and the appropriate role for the federal government moving forward. Witness testimony will be posted at the same link as it is available.
On Tuesday afternoon members will deliver opening statements for a Full Committee Markup that will reconvene on Wednesday morning. The committee will consider:
* H.R. 8, the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act
* H.R. 3242, the Child Nicotine Poisoning Prevention Act
* Reconciliation Recommendations

On Thursday, the Subcommittee on Health will hold a hearing to discuss three bills to strengthen the Medicare program. Subcommittee members will review H.R. 556, the Prevent Interruptions in Physical Therapy Act, H.R. 1934, the Cancer Care Payment Reform Act, and draft legislation that would make changes to documentation and face-to-face requirements for home health providers under Medicare. These bills, authored by Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), and Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) respectively underscore a continued commitment to improve Medicare and #KeepthePromise to seniors.as they are posted.
Also on Thursday, the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy will examine the transportation of spent nuclear material. There are approximately three million shipments of nuclear material across the United States every year. Members will examine current efforts to transport nuclear material, including regulatory requirements and weigh recommendations to the Department of Energy plan for shipment of high-level radioactive waste and commercial spent nuclear fuel.as they are posted.
