Pallone Commends Agreement to Protect Affordable Health Coverage for Seniors

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Oct. 27, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement today after House and Senate leaders reached a budget agreement that prevents substantial Medicare premium increases for approximately 16 million seniors:

“This agreement keeps our promise to our nation’s seniors and protects the guarantee of affordable health coverage through the Medicare program. Millions of beneficiaries and state governments with already limited budgets will now not have to bear the brunt of a policy anomaly. I am pleased we were able to come together, in a bipartisan way, to protect beneficiaries from this drastic hike and provide more certainty for the years ahead."
