Momentum Builds Ahead of House Votes to Protect Jobs and Affordable Energy

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Dec. 1, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote today on two important energy resolutions, S.J. Res 23 and S.J. Res 24, which will keep electricity affordable and reliable for Americans. The resolutions are identical to H.J. Res 71 and 72, authored by Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield (R-KY), and provide for Congressional disapproval of two final rules issued by the EPA for new and existing fossil fuel-fired power plants. The rules finalized by the EPA are similar to the cap-and-trade scheme that failed to pass a Democratically controlled Congress in 2010 and are projected to raise electric prices for consumers and threaten grid reliability throughout the country. The resolutions are supported by organizations across the U.S. economy, including the Partnership for a Better Energy Future, a coalition representing numerous sectors. A list of the members of the partnership, as well as other entities supporting the legislation, is provided below:
