The Subcommittee on Energy and Power, chaired by Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), has scheduled a legislative hearing for Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “A Legislative Hearing on Eight Energy Infrastructure Bills."
The bills under consideration continue to build upon the committee’s ongoing work to strengthen and modernize our energy infrastructure. Members will review eight bills, five of which focus on bolstering our nation’s hydroelectric power from non-powered dams. The subcommittee will also examine three other bills: 1) legislation that amends the Natural Gas Act to accept data collected by aerial survey for purposes of completing federal reviews of natural gas pipelines; 2) legislation that amends the Federal Power Act (FPA) to provide opportunities for rehearing of orders affecting rates, even in instances where the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is deadlocked in a two to two vote; and 3) amends the FPA to expressly include a minimum monetary threshold of $10,000,000 for acquisitions of FERC-jurisdictional facilities.

* H.R. 3447, a bill to extend the deadline for commencement of construction of a hydroelectric project involving the W. Kerr-Scott Dam ;
