Upton & Murphy Comment on HealthCare.gov Report

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Feb. 23, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Tim Murphy (R-PA) responded following the release of the Health and Human Services Inspector General’s report on HealthCare.gov. The committee has actively conducted aggressive oversight of the failures of HealthCare.gov.

“Today’s report confirms what our oversight also revealed - that the monumental challenges HealthCare.gov faced when it opened were just the tip of the iceberg," said Upton and Murphy. “Here we are, a month away from the health law’s sixth anniversary with millions of people enrolled, and the HHS watchdog declares that the website still ‘faces ongoing challenges,’ including its completion. Some administration officials have even admitted the site won’t be completed before President Obama leaves office. It’s a mess any way you look at it."
