WASHINGTON, DC - Building upon the Energy and Commerce Committee’s #RecordOfSuccess, the House of Representatives today approved three bipartisan energy bills spearheaded by the committee. The bills advance the committee’s ongoing efforts to modernize the nation’s energy laws.
H.R. 4238, a bill to amend the Department of Energy Organization Act and the Local Public Works Capital Development and Investment Act of 1976 to modernize terms relating to minorities
* This important bill would remove racially insensitive terms and update references to minorities in the Department of Energy Organization Act and Local Public Works Capital Development Investment Act.
H.R. 4444, the EPS Improvement Act
* Authored by committee member Rep. Renee Ellmers, this pro-consumer, pro-manufacturing bill exempts certain lighting and ceiling fan technology from an onerous Department of Energy regulation.
H.R. 4583, to promote a 21st century energy and manufacturing workforce
* Introduced by Energy and Power Subcommittee Ranking Member Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) and committee member Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC), this bipartisan bill would redirect the federal government’s energy job training programs to include more women and minorities that have been historically underrepresented in the energy sector.
