WASHINGTON, DC - As part of the committee’s broad review of concussions, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, chaired by Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA), announced today it will hold a hearing on concussions in youth sports next Friday. The hearing will build upon the committee’s first roundtable discussion held in March. The goal of the review is to bring experts from a wide variety of fields - medical, military, sports leagues, and other stakeholders - to advance the understanding of these complex and traumatic brain injuries.
“We had a very productive discussion at our initial roundtable which highlighted the importance of examining the child and adolescent population, while ensuring the policy keeps pace with the science," said Murphy. “We’ll be exploring the pediatric angle further, learning more about what research is being conducted, and what needs to be done to protect our youth athletes."
Additional hearing details will be posted here as available.
