WASHINGTON, D.C. - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) got a House call today from Dr. Phil McGraw, commonly known by the title of his television show, “Dr. Phil."

Dr. Phil was visiting Capitol Hill to raise awareness for type 2 diabetes - a disease he’s had for more than 25 years. Chairman’s Upton’s father is also living with type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Phil adds his name to those on the bipartisan #Path2Cures. Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) joined the conversation to discuss his work on diabetes.
“As a former practicing clinical psychologist, I used to encourage people struggling with disease to make it one more day, one more week, one more month, because cures are coming," said Dr. Phil. “This effort puts patients first and will have a tremendous impact on treating those battling disease, and help boost our prevention efforts. It’s a critical effort and one that I look forward to help advance."
