WASHINGTON, DC - The House Committee on Energy and Commerce today announced its hearing schedule for the week of July 4.
On Wednesday, House and Senate opioid conferees will meet to discuss their work on a conference report to S. 524, the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016. Video of the meeting will also be live streamed at the same link on the day of the event.
Also on Wednesday, the Subcommittee on Energy and Power will hold a hearing to review EPA’s regulatory activity in the energy and industrial sectors during the Obama administration. EPA has published over 3,900 rules in the Federal Register that apply broadly across the U.S. economy, including the electricity, oil and gas, and manufacturing and industrial sectors. Members will receive testimony from the EPA Office of Air and Radiation, as well as multiple state industrial stakeholders. The Majority Memorandum and witness list are available online here. On Thursday, the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy will hold a hearing to examine federal, state, and local agreements and associated benefits for the disposal of spent nuclear fuel. Members will address historical issues associated with the economic benefits and administrative costs of a nuclear disposal facility like Yucca Mountain, and hear from expert stakeholders from the state of Nevada.as they are posted.
Also on Thursday, the Subcommittee on Health will hold a legislative hearing to examine revised text for the Advancing Care for Exceptional (ACE) Kids Act, a bill sponsored by bipartisan committee members, Chairman Emeritus Joe Barton (R-TX) and Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL). The ACE Kids Act would improve access to care for children with complex medical conditions who receive services under the Medicaid program., and the Majority Memorandum, witness list, and witness testimony will be available at the same link as they are posted.
On Friday, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing to examine the implications of Obamacare’s Cost Sharing Reduction (CSR) program. Members will continue to seek answers on the administration’s payments amounting to more than $5 billion into a program that never received a Constitutionally required appropriation.as they are posted.
