Energy and Commerce, Ways and Means Leaders Issue Statement on Increased Flexibility for MACRA

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Sept. 9, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI), Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI), issued the following statement after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) announcement regarding the implementation of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA). The announcement comes just days after the Members sent a letter to the Administration urging additional flexibility for all practitioners.

“We’re pleased to see the Administration is including our recommendations in its implementation of MACRA. By providing flexibility for doctors and other health care providers, we are helping ensure this historic law delivers the quality, value-based care Medicare beneficiaries deserve. We’re committed to continuing our work with each other, stakeholders, and the Administration so that doctors can prioritize patient care instead of focusing on burdensome paperwork." Related Items
