Pallone Applauds Ongoing Administration Action to Tackle Climate Change

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Oct. 5, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement today applauding the Obama Administration’s continued actions to tackle climate change. Today, the Obama Administration announced new actions that the U.S. Departments of Agriculture (USDA), Energy (DOE), Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Veterans Affairs (VA) are taking to reduce the carbon footprint and build climate resiliency in offices and homes around the nation.

“I applaud President Obama for continuing to take aggressive administrative action to combat climate change and reduce our energy use in a way that helps consumers save money. Data plays a critical role in helping governmental agencies determine the most effective ways to encourage developers to build energy efficient homes and offices. This comprehensive, multi-agency approach will make a significant difference in reducing carbon emissions. It should also serve as a reminder that any final energy bill must build on these types of initiatives, and should not in any way tie the hands of the next president when it comes to combatting climate change."
