Pallone Applauds Quadrennial Energy Review

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Jan. 6, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today following the Obama Administration’s release of the second installment of the Quadrennial Energy Review (QER), “Transforming the Nation’s Electricity System", which focuses on the national security, environmental protection, and economic development imperatives of the electricity system in the United States:

“This review reaffirms the rapid changes in our nation’s electricity sector and highlights the need for us to rethink many of the preconceived notions about how energy is produced, procured, priced, transmitted and consumed in our country. This is a valuable tool for our Committee, not only as we continue our hearings on the Federal Power Act, but also as we look into new and more severe vulnerabilities to cyber-attacks by Russia and other rogue nations.

“The new QER, like its predecessor, is a well-documented, thoughtful look at energy policy and what we have come to expect from Secretary Moniz. He will be missed and this makes clear that his successor will have big shoes to fill."
