Pallone on House Passage of GOP Budget Resolution to Repeal the Affordable Care Act

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Jan. 13, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement after the House passed the Fiscal Year 2017 Republican Budget Resolution (S.Con.Res. 3), which provides the first step toward Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA):

“House Republicans took their first step to take away health care from 30 million Americans, and put the insurance companies back in charge. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act we now have the lowest uninsured rate ever. Americans have higher quality insurance thanks to consumer protections like prohibitions on annual and lifetime limits and no discrimination for pre-existing conditions.

“For seven years, Republicans have claimed they have a better way, but now, when America’s watching, it’s clear they have no plan at all. They want to simply repeal and run. The American people deserve to know the Republicans’ plans for their health care before the services they rely on are torn away."
