Pallone Blasts Latest GOP Efforts to Undermine Consumers’ Online Privacy

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 7, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C.-Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) offered the following statement in response to the introduction of a resolution of disapproval by Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) that would roll back Federal Communications Commission (FCC) broadband privacy protections and prevent the commission from instituting similar protections in the future:

“I am dismayed that Republicans are using a scorched earth strategy to undermine Americans’ privacy online. This procedural gimmick wouldn’t just roll back the FCC’s current broadband privacy rules, it would hamstring the agency. I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to oppose this plan devised by big corporate interests and instead protect the American people."
