WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Environment, chaired by Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL), today announced a hearing for Friday, May 19, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “H.R.___, Drinking Water System Improvement Act and related issues of funding, management, and compliance assistance under the Safe Drinking Water Act."

Building on the subcommittee’s previous work examining drinking water infrastructure needs across the country, #SubEnvironment will hold a legislative hearing examining a discussion draft of legislation that aims to bring greater investment and improvements to our drinking water infrastructure.

“Every American should have access to safe, clean drinking water and this committee has a long track record of examining ways to improve drinking water delivery systems throughout our country," said Chairman Shimkus. “This discussion draft represents a true starting point, and I’m excited to receive feedback from all stakeholders involved as we work to build on this draft and improve our nation’s drinking water infrastructure."
