WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, chaired by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), today announced a hearing for Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 10 a.m. in 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “Promoting Security in Wireless Technology."
Next week, #SubCommTech will examine cybersecurity risks to wireless technologies with a particular focus on wireless networks and mobile devices. Cyber criminals often utilize a number of strategies to launch attacks on wireless technologies. Often times they exploit vulnerabilities within a network to gain unauthorized access to wireless networks or target mobile devices through malware and phishing attacks.
“In today’s increasingly digital and wireless world, cyber criminals continue to adapt, discover, and exploit vulnerabilities in our networks to gain unauthorized access and cause harm to consumers and businesses around the country," said Chairman Blackburn. “Next week’s hearing will provide our members an opportunity to learn more about these threats, what stakeholders are doing to combat and prevent these attacks, and what policies could be helpful in furthering the resiliency of our wireless networks and devices."
