Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell signaled that the Senate would attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) after the Senate’s latest version of Trumpcare failed to gain enough votes to pass:
“Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act become more cruel and heartless every day. Repealing the ACA without a replacement would result in 32 million Americans losing their health coverage over the next decade and insurance premiums doubling for those that still have coverage.
“It is time for Republicans to stop playing games with the health and wellbeing of Americans and to start working with Democrats on bipartisan solutions to strengthen the ACA by making health care more affordable and ensuring everyone has access to the care they need."
