WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, chaired by Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA), today announced a hearing for Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 10:15 a.m. in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “EPA Oversight: Unimplemented Inspector General and GAO Recommendations."
Next week’s #SubOversight hearing will provide the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Accountability Office (GAO) the opportunity to highlight open and unimplemented recommendations at the EPA. According to EPA OIG, the agency could potentially save $103.33 million if EPA implemented OIG’s current open and unimplemented recommendations.
“While EPA has made improvements implementing GAO’s recommendations, deficiencies persist in key areas, including workforce management, information security, and grant management," said Chairman Murphy. “It’s important that EPA act on these recommendations to ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent more efficiently while also improving the effectiveness of EPA’s core missions - protecting public health and the environment."
The Majority Memorandum, a witness list, and witness testimony will be available here as they are posted.
