WASHINGTON, DC - Health Subcommittee Chairman, Rep. Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), today issued the following statement following the administration’s action allowing employers to claim a religious or moral objection to the birth control coverage mandate under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act:

“This is an important step to safeguard conscience protections and ensure no employer is forced to pay for services to which they object religiously or morally. I appreciate the administration’s step toward ensuring liberty for all employers."
