WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, chaired by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), announced today it will be holding a markup on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
Subcommittee members will consider H.R._, a bill to amend the Communications Act of 1934 to reauthorize appropriations for the Federal Communications Commission, to provide for certain procedural changes to the rules of the Commission to maximize opportunities for public participation and efficient decision making, and for other purposes. In July, #SubCommTech held a hearing on the importance of reauthorizing and reforming the FCC.
“This reauthorization and reform measure is long overdue. The FCC, the agency charged with administering the Communications Act and other statutes vital to the functioning of our communications policy, has not been reauthorized since 1990. Yet, its current appropriation is over $430 million. As Americans increasingly depend on technology in daily life, we are ensuring the FCC is more transparent and ready to meet the communications needs of today’s consumers," said Chairman Blackburn.
