Pallone on Updated CBO CHIP Score

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Jan. 9, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today in response to news reports on Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projections that a ten year reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) would save the government $6 billion:

“For over a year, President Trump and Congressional Republicans have done everything possible to sabotage our health care system. After showering corporations and the wealthiest few with tax cuts, Congressional Republicans have created a situation where we can provide permanent coverage to millions of kids through the CHIP program. This should be a no brainer - we should stop the uncertainty and permanently extend CHIP."
