Burgess on Administration’s Creation of New Conscience Protection Office

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Jan. 18, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Health Subcommittee Chairman, Rep. Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), today issued the following statement following the administration’s announcement of the creation of the Conscience and Religious Freedom Division within the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office for Civil Rights.

“Following the administration’s action last fall, this is another important step forward. Not only will the creation of this office help safeguard these critical protections, but it will also help prevent coercion and discrimination. I am grateful to the administration for taking this additional step toward protecting everyone’s conscience rights."

Ahead of tomorrow’s March for Life rally, #SubHealth Chairman Burgess authored a post for the House Republican Conference’s blog. Entitled, “A Lifetime Dedicated to Life", you can read it here.
