#SubHealth to Review Discussion Draft to Reauthorize Animal Drug and Generic Animal Drug User Fees

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 7, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - The Health Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), announced a hearing for Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 10:15 a.m. in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “Reauthorization of Animal Drug User Fees: ADUFA and AGDUFA."

Last month, bipartisan leaders of the Energy and Commerce Committee and Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee released a discussion draft of bipartisan legislation reauthorizing the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) animal drug and generic animal drug user fee agreements.

“This is an important opportunity to review the discussion draft as released by the House and Senate committees of jurisdiction, giving us ample time to reauthorize these important programs before the Sept. 30, 2018, deadline," said #SubHealth Chairman Burgess. “Reauthorizing these user fee programs will help accelerate the development and approval of safe and effective new animal drugs for the vast array of American households that rely on medications to keep their animals and pets healthy, while also ensuring a safe food supply."

The Majority Memorandum, witness list, and witness testimony for the hearing will be available here as they are posted.
