WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, chaired by Rep. Gregg Harper (R-MS) announced a hearing for Tuesday, March 20, at 10 a.m. in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Role in Combating the Opioid Epidemic."
#SubOversight will question Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Acting Administrator, Robert Patterson, about his agency’s role in combating the opioid crisis. The hearing will include a focus on concerns arising from the committee’s ongoing bipartisan investigation into alleged pill dumping in West Virginia. Acting Administrator Patterson will be the sole witness.
“This hearing comes at a critical point in our investigation," said #SubOversight Chairman Harper. “As we continue to probe national and regional distributors, it is crucial we ask the DEA what exactly it was doing while the opioid crisis was taking an unprecedented hold on the small communities of West Virginia. I look forward to their cooperation and answers."
The Majority Memorandum, witness list, and witness testimony for the hearing will be available here as they are posted.
