WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Energy, chaired by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), today announced details for the Tuesday, April 17, 2018, hearing entitled, “Oversight of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the FY 2019 Budget." The hearing will take place at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building and all five Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) commissioners are set to testify.
“FERC plays an integral role in licensing infrastructure projects across the country including interstate natural gas pipelines, liquified natural gas terminals, and hydropower projects," said Chairman Upton. “They also regulate the nation’s wholesale electricity markets and play a key role in assessing the resilience of the bulk power system and how to mitigate threats, including both physical and cybersecurity. Given FERC’s important responsibilities in an ever-changing energy landscape, I’m looking forward to hearing from them next week on their priorities for the agency in the years to come."
The committee initially announced the hearing in March.
