#FullCmte to Markup Reauthorization of Animal Drug and Animal Generic Drug User Fees TOMORROW

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on May 8, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - The Energy and Commerce Committee, chaired by Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR), yesterday announced the details for a markup on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at 9 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

In addition to the 26 individual opioid bills the #FullCmte will consider, it will also review H.R. 5554, the Animal Drug and Animal Generic Drug User Fee Amendments of 2018, authored by Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK). H.R. 5554 will amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to reauthorize user fee programs relating to new animal drugs and new generic animal drugs. The bipartisan bill, reauthorizing both programs, passed #SubHealth by voice vote last month.

To learn more about why H.R. 5554 is so important, check out this inaugural episode of TED Walks. Ted’s been a vocal supporter of the reauthorizations since a March 2018 #SubHealth hearing on the programs.

A background memo, electronic copies of the legislation, and live stream of the markup can be found online here. Amendment text and votes will be available at the same link as they are posted.
