The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on May 30, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - The Health Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), announced a hearing for Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “Examining the Reauthorization of the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act."

Next week, #SubHealth will review H.R. __, the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act of 2018. H.R. __ will reauthorize key biodefense programs for five years.

“This is important legislation that will bolster our nation’s preparedness infrastructure, and support the development of critical medical countermeasures in the instances of a wide-ranging variety of attacks. Our nation has learned much from events at home and abroad since the program’s last reauthorization," said #SubHealth Chairman Burgess. “It is critical we reauthorize this program in a timely manner, and I look forward to moving ahead in that process next week."

The Majority Memorandum, witness list, and witness testimony for the hearing will be available here as they are posted.
