WASHINGTON, DC - The Energy and Commerce Committee today released the first video in a series featuring committee members highlighting their legislative efforts to combat the opioid crisis. These videos will highlight just a handful of the 57 legislative solutions the committee advanced to the full House in May.

In today’s video, Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI) highlights Jessie’s Law, a bipartisan bill that will ensure medical professionals have access to a consenting patient’s complete health history when making treatment decisions. The bill is named after Jessie Grubb, a Michigan native, who tragically overdosed on opioids she was given after a medical procedure, despite being in recovery from an opioid addiction in the past.

“It’s a heartbreaking and entirely preventable story," said Rep. Walberg.
