WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection, chaired by Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH), today announced a markup for Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., or 15 minutes after the conclusion of the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology markup, whichever is later, in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
#SubDCCP will consider H.R. 6032, the SMART IoT Act, authored by Chairman Latta and Rep. Peter Welch (D-VT). The SMART IoT Act will direct the Secretary of Commerce to conduct a study on the state of the internet-connected devices industry.
“The SMART IoT Act helps provide lawmakers a current snapshot of the world of internet-connected devices, and a look at the potential innovation and development to come. As IoT becomes more prominent and efficient for both consumers and industries, it’s critical we understand how federal policies can impact the growth of this cutting-edge technology. I’m proud of the bipartisan effort that has gone into this legislation and look forward to advancing it," said Chairman Latta.
