NEXT WEEK: #SubCommTech to Discuss NTIA Reauthorization Draft

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on June 19, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Communication and Technology, chaired by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), announced today a hearing for Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 1:15 p.m. in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “Discussion Draft: National Telecommunications and Information Administration Reauthorization Act of 2018."

The upcoming hearing will focus on draft legislation to reauthorize the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and efforts to support broadband infrastructure, efficient spectrum use, and driving the nation’s internet-connected economy. Also part of the hearing will be a discussion on strengthening public safety and promoting secure communications networks. Earlier this year, #SubCommTech held an oversight hearing with NTIA Administrator David Redl.

“Many of this subcommittee’s top priorities are carried out by NTIA, from closing the digital divide to freeing up spectrum and improving public safety. Though it hasn’t been reauthorized since 1992, the NTIA has a critical role in our 21st century economy. We want to ensure this important agency has the tools and directives it needs to achieve our shared goals. I look forward to delving into this discussion at next week’s hearing," said Chairman Blackburn.
