WASHINGTON, DC - Health Subcommittee Chairman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) issued the following statement after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced their latest efforts to improve the integrity of the Medicaid program following the release of state Medicaid data scorecards earlier this month.

“These new initiatives and analytic tools will be tremendously helpful in our efforts to bolster and preserve the Medicaid program, upon which millions of Americans rely each and every day. They also will lead to greater oversight and accountability in many different ways - from ensuring beneficiary eligibility to making sure state Medicaid programs are complying with federal rules. These are important actions that will strengthen the integrity of this critical program."
