Pallone Blasts Trump Admin’s Navigator Funding Cuts

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on July 10, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement today blasting the Trump Administration’s announcement that it would slash funding to $10 million for the Affordable Care Act Navigators program:

“The Trump Administration is once again attempting to sabotage the ACA at any cost regardless of its impact on the American people. Gutting funding for the Navigator program - which helps people sign up for affordable health insurance - will further increase premiums for consumers and potentially leave many without access to health coverage. It is also outrageous that the Administration is encouraging the few programs that do receive funding to promote junk insurance plans that leave consumers at financial risk. This is a cold-hearted decision that will only serve to hurt people."

Last year, the Trump Administration announced they were reducing the navigators’ aid by 41 percent - from $62.5 million to $36.8 million.
