WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) and #SubEnergy Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) released the following statement after the Senate passed H.R. 1733 by unanimous consent. The bills now head to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law.
H.R. 1733, to direct the Secretary of Energy to review and update a report on the energy and environmental benefits of the re-refining of used lubricating oil, authored by committee members Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN) and Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA), passed the House by voice vote on Dec. 12, 2017. The Senate passed the bill by unanimous consent today.
* H.R. 1733 would require the Secretary of Energy to review and update a report and submit to Congress a coordinated federal strategy to increase the beneficial reuse of used lubricating oil.
“Today’s bipartisan legislation continues the work our committee has done to promote efficiency and innovation to benefit both the environment and the American consumer," said Chairman Walden and #SubEnergy Chairman Upton. “Requiring a revamped federal strategy promoting the energy and environmental benefits of the re-refining of used lubricating oil will help reduce unnecessary waste and save money. We’d like to thank Rep. Susan Brooks for her leadership on this important effort to help save energy and protect the environment."
